Art on the Beach 5 had a new emphasis on collaborative projects by teams of visual artists, architects, and performing artists. This endeavor included six collaborations by (listed respectively): Brower Hatcher, Billie Tsien, and David Van Tieghem; Tom Otterness, Ian Bader, and Richard Flood; James Holl, Elizabeth Diller, Kaylynn Sullivan; Tom Hatch, Geraldine Pontius, Daniel McCusker; Nene Humphrey, Kathleen Ligon, Johanna Boyce; Petah Coyne, Harriet Balaran, Shelly Hirsch.
