Creative Time's Open Door

For one day every month, we invite artists to come into our office, share their project ideas with us, and get feedback from our experienced programming team.

Open Door is not about pitching to Creative Time to present your project. It is instead a chance to have your questions answered about working in the public realm, brainstorm or troubleshoot ideas with our staff, and get informed about new resources and opportunities. It is also a chance for you to ask us questions about our programs—production challenges, obtaining sites and funding, working with city agencies, etc.—that can inform and help your next steps in realizing your project.

Appointments are 20 minutes each, and we must stick to a firm schedule in order to see as many artists as possible. Please fill out the form below to apply for a session. We will review submissions in the order they are received and get in touch with you by phone or email to schedule appointments. Due to popular demand, we will prioritize artists who have not seen us before (if you have already participated in Open Door, please wait at least a year to re-apply). We welcome any artist with a project for the public realm in any stage of development, but we privilege artists whom we think we are best equipped to advise. Before you apply, please look at our website and see if your needs align with our practice.

To allow the best use of your time, please come prepared with supporting materials—including sketches, photographs, videos, or other documentation that helps us understand your project.
